Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." This means faith makes our hopes tangible and our unseen beliefs real. For believers, faith acts as the bridge between the spiritual and physical realms. It's through faith that we trust in God's promises and see His plans manifest in our lives. Faith empowers believers to act on God's Word, turning invisible hopes into visible realities. It's like having a divine blueprint, knowing that through faith, what we hope for will come to pass. Faith isn't just belief—it's an active, dynamic force that shapes our reality.

Faith is like a conduit connecting the tangible, physical world with the intangible, spiritual realm. It's through faith that we grasp the promises and truths of God, which are not visible to the naked eye. Hebrews 11:1 tells us faith gives substance to our hopes and makes unseen realities evident.

In practice, this means faith enables us to act on spiritual convictions as though they are already reality. For example, when you pray for something, faith lets you trust that your prayers are heard and will be answered in God's timing. It’s like setting a foundation on something you can’t see yet but fully believe in.

This bridge lets us live out our spiritual beliefs in a physical world, guiding our actions and decisions based on spiritual truths. It’s a powerful way to bring the divine into everyday life. Faith perceives as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.

THE ASSIGNMENT OF FAITH

Hebrews 11:1-2 states: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Hebrews 1:3: “Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person (hupostasis), and upholding all things by the word of His power…”

Let’s delve into the fascinating word “substance” as it appears in both Hebrews 11:1 and Hebrews 1:3. These passages provide rich insights into the nature of faith and the person of Christ.

So, to summarize: In Hebrews 11:1, “hupostasis” speaks of the essence and assurance of faith. In Hebrews 1:3, “hupostasis” highlights Christ as the embodiment of God’s essential nature.

Isn’t it remarkable how the same word sheds light on both faith and the Person of Jesus? From this we learn the essence and assurance of faith in the things that we hope (divine expectation) for has actual existence in the Person of Christ who upholds all things by the word of His power.

Again, this passage highlights the first aspect of faith’s assignment in the life of the Believer. Faith Helps us to Obtain Things—possessions, clothes, houses, cars etc... Faith provides Assurance and Confidence in Hope in the promises of God, even when they are not yet visible. This confidence allows us to trust that God will fulfill His promises.

Practical Application:

· When faced with uncertainty, remind yourself of God’s promises. Write them down, meditate on them, and let them anchor your soul.

· Pray with faith, knowing that God hears and responds—even when the answers aren’t immediate or visible.

· Walk confidently, trusting that God is working behind the scenes, aligning things for your good.

Remember, faith isn’t wishful thinking; It’s a confident reliance on God. It’s the bridge between the visible and the invisible, allowing us to obtain the promises He has set before us.
